3rd Annual Bernie Sampson Memorial Billiards Tournament

The 3rd Annual Bernie Sampson Memorial Billiards Tournament was held at the club house on Saturday Feburary 7, 2026.  Combined with the proceeds from a 50/50 raffle at the prior day's meeting night, the total funds raised for Bernie's family reached $2,000.

Sixteen players battled it out for a chance have their name engraved on the billiards trophy, encouraged by the absence of Nate Meyer, the winner of the prior two tournaments.  Aaron Belyea prevailed and was crowned champion, although his path to victory was not easy as he faced solid competition in all games.

Highly amusing commentary was once again provided by anchors Bryan Geiler and Will MacFee, supported by relief anchors Bill Bloor and Josh Rioux.

Opening 'Ceremony'

President Bryan Geiler and 1st Vice President Will MacFee open the competition.

Mike & Curtis

Mike McKinnon and Curtis Chin battle over the black for a tightly contested quarter-final spot.

Carl & Chris

Carl Donaldson edges out Chris Schelleng in the opening round, securing a quarter-final spot.

Ron vs. Josh

After slamming a series of precision pots, Dr. Ron 'Hurricane' Avraham chases for the win with one ball down on his opponent, Josh Rioux.

Ron vs. Curtis

Ron and Curtis battle it out for a place in the semi-finals.

The upset of the day...

Bill Bloor lines up an ambitious pot on the black as he maintains his lead over Aaron, only to make the pocket with an assist from Aaron's remaining ball.  As this action was not called ahead of time, the move was correctly deemed a foul by Josh 'Rules' Rioux, handing the win, and a semi-final place, to Aaron.

Andy McCarthy & Dicky Blair

Andy McCarthy, playing with relaxed excellence, secures a space in the semi-finals in yet another closely contested game.

Andy McCarthy & Mike Brophy

Curtis Chin made the semi-finals but was unable to stay, handing his spot to substitute Mike Brophy.  After a solid game, Andy attempts a final pot on the black and inadvertently sends Mike into the final.

Carl & Aaron

Carl and Aaron fight for the remaining spot in the final.

A Trophy for Brophy?

Playing the best of three, Aaron takes the first two games to secure the trophy.
